Coolum Art Collective Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Fifty years ago a group of local artists got together and formed what is today known as the
Coolum Art Collective. Their goal was simply to promote local art to people on the Sunshine
Coast and the growing tourist trade.
This Easter the Coolum Art Collective will celebrate their 50th anniversary with their annual
Easter Art Exhibition to be held at the Coolum Civic Centre and continue the legacy started
by the original members.
The three day exhibition will feature art and craft works from some of the Sunshine Coast’s
leading artists, and offer a diverse range of art to suit many tastes and budgets.
Coolum Art Collective President, Shirley Almeta Lennon said, “Our 50th anniversary show
this Easter for the Coolum Art Collective promises to be our most exciting Easter exhibition
show yet. With more than 20 leading local artists exhibiting their latest work, visitors will
get the chance to see outstanding local artworks on display and find quality artwork at
affordable prices to adorn their walls at home.”
Over 200 original works are offered for sale comprising a variety of styles and mediums,
from traditional oils and watercolours to acrylic works. Also on offer are smaller unframed
works to suit every budget.
Each show there is a themed section of works separate from the main body of work, and
this year the theme is Back To The Sixties. Exhibiting artists will each submit one piece of
work based on this central idea.
“The themed works section of the exhibition gives our artists an opportunity to showcase
their talents around a central common theme and will be a lot of fun with our theme this
year of Back To The Sixties” Lennon said.
For visitors entry is free and the opportunity to view and take home quality artwork from
leading artists on the Sunshine Coast is not to be missed. Visitors are also invited to select
their favourites in the People’s Choice award.
This Easter, make sure you visit the 50th Anniversary exhibition of the Coolum Art Collective
